Mainsail
June 2014, while in Majuro, MH, new mainsail replaced with Doyle Ocean Plus Mainsail, Dimension-Polyant 410 SF Dacron, 3 reefs, 5 full batten pockets with offshore chafe protection along entire pocket, including bag.
2024-06-13 mast main sail track replaced
February 2009, while in USVI, new mainsail.
Lazyjack and Lazybag
Headsail:
March 2020, while in the Philippines, replaced the headsail with a new cross-cut construction Fibercon AP 7.38; approximate sail area 18m2, plus new Sauleda UV cover via Hyde Sails Philippines.
Also, repaired old headsail – stitching, patching, and fixing luff foil at bottom end via Hyde Sails Philippines.
June 2015, while in Wallis, Captain Pete had to perform “a few thousand hand stitches” to repair the top half of the headsail after it suffered damage during a tough crossing.
July 2011, while in Port Denarau, Fiji, replaced the headsail via Marshall Sails. At the same time, his old head sail was stitched and repaired to serve as a backup; also replaced a broken headsail track.
Main-Reacher
May 2015, while in Majuro, MH, new main-reacher sail installed – Vectran luff; 496 sq ft, 3.0 oz. Nylon (blue) via Doyle Sails
Spinnaker
September 2005, while in USVI, new Spinnaker NorLon 2 and NorDac materials, Nylon via North Sails, including spinnaker sock.
Captain Pete continued to use his “big spinnaker” (or “spinny”) intermittently throughout his voyages, notably setting a personal record of over 1,400 nautical miles on it during his 2010 Pacific crossing. In March 2024, while sailing toward Brunei, he noted that he had “finally put up [the] big spinnaker” and that it was still in good shape, though he remarked he had not used it in “many years”.

Mast and Boom
- 2009 Replacement: Prior to the 2014 upgrade, Pete replaced the main sail in March 2009 in Road Town, Tortola. At that time, he was replacing a 10-year-old sail that he described as “working fine” but “tired”. He purchased the 2009 sail from Doyle Sail Makers.
